Their doesn't seem to be much discussion on the Forum re Sundays Meeting plenty of people have viewed the Comments that I have made to the Committee re changes to the Constitution but alas only 1 Member has decided to contribute or reply maybe it's cos we're we're just all fed up with the what's been going on over the last 2yr (COVID)either way it needs to be sorted out for the good of the Club going forward.
Below is another issue I have with the change to the Constitution it's the re Family Membership.
I've no problem with any member of ones Family being included within our Club but to become a Member for €10 and have Full Voting Rights is a bit unfair to those that already have pay €35+€15 for Membership yes by all means include them as we have done in the past but to give them Full Voting Rights I'm not to sure about,if we can discuss this in a somewhat civil manner before Sunday it just might help to move the Meeting along a bit quicker on Sunday,Cheers.

Apologies in advance folks.
I may not be able to make it tomorrow. IF I can, I will pop over to vote.
I Rarely post comments on here but i would like to point out a few things. Niall, i would imagine there are few replies to your post because folks are sick of hearing this same old tripe rehashed again and again in some form or another. Proposals here, counter proposals there...when we have talked and talked about these issues multiple times already. The proposed changes to the constitution are minimal and reasonable and easy to understand. Fair enough i understand some people are unhappy about the family membership idea and the procedure around expelling a member. On the issue of expulsion from the club, i think the proposal is fairly straight forward. Again, it will be down to a show of hands at the AGM for those in favour of voting for the above changes and those against. As for the herald, at previous meetings it seems fairly clear that the majority favour a hard copy in their hand either 4, 3, or 2 times a year. By all means if Cec has an idea i think everyone would be willing to have a look to see if it's something they would like added to the ballot paper.
Okay all that aside...personally, i find the stuff that has been going on within the club the past few months is sickening. The aggressive behaviour by individuals at meetings, the constant debate about irrelevant minor details of minutes, moaning about whatsapp groups, posting all sorts of contentious shite all over the forum...it's embarassing. No other word for it. I'm in the club since 2010 and i cannot remember a time when the atmosphere at meetings was so tense. It was always the exact opposite in fact. During my membership, i remember the guys on the VOLUNTARY current commitee putting in huge amounts of their own time spearheading club events for charity...top to toe, 4 provinces, east to west, not to mention numerous technical evenings in all their garages. We were all involved in those charity runs and we know well how much organisation went on in the background for them...most of all by our current secretary..someone with the best interests of the club at heart. The same person that has been in the direct line of fire for awful abuse from individuals at recent meetings. Who would want to be involved in a club if they came to a meeting and saw that nonsense play out!?.
Morale is low amongst members. The behaviour from individuals in the past few months has caused a big split in the club. a long time member left, people are walking out of meetings...horrible atmosphere at them too. Voting on various issues aside, the damage to the club is done and long time friendly relationships badly damaged. the holy trinity could be the next commitee but will still have a job to do trying to repair the damage this utter shite has caused. Yes Niall, everyone has been through the shit the past 2 years. Some of us have lost people to Covid, lost jobs and suffered both physically and mentally...Exactly the reason why we literally have to leave this crap in the rear view and get back to the good times or it will fester and run deeper and ruin the TCOC. I suggest we use the AGM as an opportunity to vote on the proposed changes, shake hands and get back to being a bunch of mates enjoying cars and each others company. The whole point of the club.
Oh! and To the new secretary.. whoever that may be....BUY A DICTAPHONE FFS!!
Regards,
Paddy.
Well Said Paddy ! Could not agree more with your input ! Let's just get back to being a great car club and cut out crap and hostility! There's enough shit going on in the world courtesy of Vlad the impaler Putin. See you all tomorrow morning 🌄
Well said Paddy
Fare play paddy we need a clean slate and it's the members on the floor who has the say of what goes on not a dictatater and yes Alan has done a job here that he didnt need to step in to fare play Alan
I like to read a hard copy of the hearld when I get time to and so do other members
I wish to Second Joe's Proposal.
My reason for above is..... how can anyone Vote on the Herald without seeing Cecil's Presentation.
Those that will only be Voting after attending for Breakfast then leaving before the Meeting won't of seen Cecil's Presintation.
As for Joe's second point I still think the incoming Committee should be left to deal with any other changes to the Constitution.
For those wishing to cast their vote before the meeting/AGM I would
like to put forward the following counter proposals:
1) digital Herald / ezine option should be 4th option on herald vote
2) as the committee was asked/tasked with looking at proposal for amendment to constitution covering private meetings only any other changes should be removed from vote and can be looked at again should the members decide.
I am making these counter proposals now rather than at the meeting otherwise early votes may be null and void.
There was never an issue with family members coming and enjoying the runs and events that were organised. Everyone got anything that was on offer foodwise. Everyone had a good time. Associate members never had a voting right and never asked for one. My understanding was, only fully paid up members have a right to vote at any meeting. This element of the constitution should not be changed. It has worked just fine as long as I have been in the club. If the general membership feel that this should be looked at down the road , it would be up to the new incoming committee to explore possible proposals.
Spouses and indeed whole families were and are most welcome to any event the club attends. If we provide refreshments for members, family are most welcome to help themselves. If anyone wants to have a say in the running of the club then they should pay a full fee otherwise just leave as is and enjoy the club at whatever event they want to attend.
what was suggested/requested at the last meeting was the committee should come up with a proposal to cover private meetings and nothing to do with the other 3 amendments that the committee have come up with. Please see previous minutes in the files area.
if members want the club to go back to what it was before COVID I suggest the constitution should be left alone (apart from the vote on private meetings) for now rather than rush through changes that may be a regretted later.
to coin an American phrase the AGM should be the "smooth transfer of power", thanking the outgoing and welcome the incoming committee.
We should start off the new year in good form and all work to returning the club to what it always was. Great fun and enjoyable.
Niall my understanding of the proposal is that a family member will have no voting rights in the club.
My concern inrelation to your other point is the changes proposed to the constiution could be used as a witch-hunt. A quiet word from the chair or a committee member should be more than enough to deal with any member/members who behaviour comes into question.
It's a car club ladies and gentlemen with like minded people who enjoy getting out and enjoying the company and what brings us together in the first place the cars.
Can we keep any changes to the constiution short and simple please . And also I know we have an issue with the magazine but if people approach this with an open mind we will reach an agreeable solution.
