Hi Stephen, I dont have any Spitfire stuff but I'll share this in case is of use to you or someone else. Stauff clamps make really ideal steering rack and anti roll bar mountings if your rack or bar happens to be the right size or close enough to drill or machine the clamp. They dont rust and are reasonably attractive looking and best of all are very cheap and readily available in several locations in Dublin and around the country. There's a few types, where you are fortunate and the rack or bar is of the right diameter you can use any of them, where you need to machine a little out of the inside of the clamp then obviously you can only use the solid polyamide ones (no rubber bushing in other words). They're pennies and provide a very similar, perhaps identical, mounting to the very expensive performance upgrade ones.

I havent personally used anyone else but there are others. Regarding the clamps themselves you can use them without metal "tops" with an allen screw or you can use them with a metal top, for our purposes I have found that without is plenty strong and less bulky. Just my experience. Also the metal tops come on various materials, zince coated mild steel, native mild steel or stainless. Like I say, for me they add cost and bulk and we aren't applying huge loads.

Thanks for the spares Niall C.
After some adjustment with a drill bit to widen the U bolt channel it's now fitted.

Perfect Niall, I have the U bolts. I'll give you bell.
Many thanks all.
