Good article, thanks Derek. Quite positive on the whole really, it's quite an environmentally friendly activity considering the return in jobs and commercially. The average age is of course a headline figure and the trend is visible at shows and car events. Life expectancy has risen a lot too since we would have formed our views on "old" during our formative years so at 66 on the life expectancy stats a guy would have more active years old car messing about left in him than we might first think when we look at the headline figure. This hobby and the people you meet in it though are not just about cars are they? It's definitely a nostalgia thing associated with age so the main body of people are going to be aged, I wouldn't be convinced that's changing much, old tools, trains, oil can caps, it's definitely a nostalgia thing so by definition almost it's going to be predominantly people who definitley have more of their life behind them than in front of them. Not sure the 66 is that alarming for the industry when you think of it, alarming for us alright!
