Simon TRipp - Grateful Appreciation

As many members may know, I recently made the bold move to the sunny south east and for the past 8 months have been settling in and getting my roots firmly bedded down. Given the lockdowns and mobility resTRictions, it was at times lonely and somewhat frustrating as indeed it was for almost everybody else. The activity I was most looking forward to was getting back on the road in the TRs and meeting up and having the craic with my good buddies. In this regard I was somewhat disappointed that it wasn't possible to have some much needed works carried out on both cars before the new season. Over the years, I was very grateful to the two Joes, the two Dereks and Niall for giving me all the mechanical help I needed when I needed it. On leaving Dublin, last year, DC suggested I look up Simon Tripp in my new neighbourhood as he is the proud owner of another Dublin TR6 and is an excellent mechanic.

On a sunny Sunday afternoon in April, I had the good fortune and privilege to meet Simon and son Daniel out for a drive in their beautifully turned out TR6. We spoke for almost an hour in that filling station forecourt and I mentioned to Simon that I had discovered a problem with the door check strap on my own TR6. Without hesitation, Simon offered to sort this for me and indeed also kindly offered to do all the other jobs that needed doing. I was blown away with Simon's generosity and enthusiasm in getting the car prepared which he has done and the Dam is now running better than ever. I'm delighted with the result and looking forward to many enjoyable outings with her this year.

Having finished the TR6, Simon then offered to do the necessary works on the TR7V8. With his usual eye for detail and perfection, the car has been TRansformed and driveability has been greatly improved. Other exciting projects are being actively considered! More anon!

Apart from being a first class mechanic who gets stuck in with huge enthusiasm, finest attention to detail and good humour, Simon has a personality to match. I enjoy his company every time we meet and his warmth is infectious. Simon and his beautiful wife Karen  and assistant Dan have made me feel so welcome in their home and their hospitality is second to none.

Although  I've only known the family a few weeks, Simon and Karen have extended the hands of friendship to me with amazing warmth and I'm TRuly grateful and privileged to have spotted and met with Simon in 7612 Z back in that forecourt in April.

Thank you Simon
