Looking for some help please.
I ran my Herald out of petrol recently, due to a faulty petrol guage. It has been periodically juddering since, which I am guessing is probably dirt sucked up from the bottom of the tank? I want to get a new fuel filter - I looked at Rimmers and Canley Classics as they are the only sites I know, and they are both out of stock. But I suspect it might be a generic item that I could get here? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I was going to replace the sender unit - can they be got here or do I need to get that from the UK?
All help and advice gratefully received!

Actually: a general note. Those of us with the Herald/Dolomite/Spitfire engine should try to get a Mann W713/14 filter. It is the only one with two anti drain valves in it. This prevents oil draining out of the filter overnight. Otherwise when you start up, there is no oli pressure until the filter fills up.
Don't overlook your local motor factors either. You would be surprised at what you can still get.

Sender unit or the actual fuel gauge could be faulty or the voltage stabiliser. The sender just varies resistance from 20ohms full to 270ohms empty. So measure the resistance across the sender's terminals or put a 20ohm resistor between sender terminal on fuel gauge and ground, it's should rise.

A generic inline fuel filter should do the trick something like this one:

mount it inline before the carbs, they usually have a flow direction arrow, make sure it's not hitting of anything and ensure connections are secure.
sounds like you need to clean the carbs too.
