  • Great turnout for meeting this morning, delighted to hear back about the TRipps TRip to Frankfurt and all that it promises to deliver for the future of the TCOC - thank you Karen and Simon. Closer to home Niall Power introduced us to a concept that also will raise the profile of the TCOC, ( refresh your memory using Niall's posting on this forum), couldn't stay back to engage in the discussion after the meeting as myself and Kevin (Fitzsimons) were going to Portlaoise to the indoor show in the shopping centre being organised by the Balinakill Vintage and Classic Owners Club, have to agree with previous comments about this show from members who have attended - a great show and very well organised pity it clashes with our monthly meeting as arriving at 1 pm a lot of exhibitors who were there early had started to leave.

For the day that was in it a decision to use the motorway saw us on the road for 55 minutes the journey home however saw us victims of 'Sunday Driver Syndrome' - joined a standstill traffic jam for about 25 minutes outside Kildare which only began to move some minutes after an ambulance made its way up the hard shoulder, anticipating further delays in trying to join the M50 in Clondalkin saw us leave the motorway at J9 (passing the turn off for Niall P's house) making way back to the Deadman's via Clane, Celbridge, and Lucan, more delays indicated on the M50 saw me coming home through town having dropped Kevin at Deadman's. I should point out that it wasn't exactly an ideal day for top-down driving in the TR so I had the use of (her indoors) VW T -ROC which has the 1.5 TFSI engine (4 pot) and when in eco mode is running on 2 cylinders which yielded a result of 44 mpg ( much better than the TR at 21 mpg. All in all a full day as well as losing an hour to the clocks going back - what's that saying: TCOC - this a great club.
