hi all, I'm looking to put the GT6 engine onto a stand and I've been reading online that it's recommended to bolt a plate to either side of the 4 bolt holes that the engine mount attaches to. This would be offset to keep the engine balanced. I hope I'm describing this accurately but please see image below an example of this. Has anyone ever used this approach and would they possibly have such a plate that I could borrow? Thanks, Shane

Hi Shane, that's a nice simple idea in the example, the only issue with it is that it has no adjustments so you can't change the centre of rotation as the centre of gravity changes with the engine build up. I made one that allows for adjustment of the centre of rotation in the vertical and horizontal plane as the brackets on those engine stands intend, however it has a flaw as well, because it mounts on the rear of the block you can't complete your build up to include the clutch assembl, design flaw I'm 😦 , it needs a version 2 mod. I have an engine on it at the moment but if you're not in a mad rush I'll take it off the weekend and modify the bracket to have the rear mount at the block drain port on the rear side of the engine, that's the better location as it allows full assembly without removal from the stand. Let me know if you want it.
Thanks a million Niall for your helpful comments. Much appreciated. I think I may take you up on offer. I am in no particular rush so whenever suits you best, that works for me. I meant to say also that I'm happy to buy such a plate that is off the shelf but not sure if they are commercially available. Wouldn't be as handy as you Niall either with the modifications!
No bother Shane, you're welcome to it. I hadn't it finished ten minutes when I saw the design flaw😦, I knew there'd be a MK2 then I was just too annoyed to do it right then. I'll sort something the weekend and come back to you then.
