Well that was a bit of fun! We travelled down on the Friday, in a little convoy of 3, reasonably lucky with the weather in that one half of the trip was in clear weather and one in mild rain. Dined in Clancy's on Friday night, that was very very good and is well worth a visit if you are in the area, breakfast both Saturday and Sunday mornings in The Priory which is in the middle of the town, again very good fare so worth a visit for breakfast particularly.
Saturday the run left the grounds of Farrells pub at 1400 or so, it was in a loop of about an hour and a half's driving crossing the Blackwater 4 times in the process, first through Villierstown where there was a stop for some lunch provided as part of the show and where there was street music and prize giving for that days turnout. Then onwards up through Cappoquinn, Lismore, Tallow and back into Youghal.

It would be highly unusual for anything from Kerry to cross that border and win anything but Dan managed it with FZX 800, so well done Dan that was a big hill to climb!  The run was in lovely countryside, marred only slightly by some rain, showery I'd describe is as. We ate in Ahernes on Saturday night, as always that was superb, don't ever pass through the area without eating there, it has a long and well justified reputation for the very best of seafood, great night then until quite late in The Nook.

Sunday they hold the static element of the show in the grounds of the pub (Farrells) which is a good venue and it works well. My Little Red took the static description quite literally and was towed into the show ground by Dan having broken a timing chain, that's classic cars what can you do! Fortunately it was early and so efficient was Mr Riordan on the tow that we were hardly noticed arriving in such undignified fashion! Colin and Dan parked protectively around Little Red and with both their sixes well on song, we had a a decent sounding 4 cylinder average anyway🤣.

There was quite a good turnout on the day I thought, very varied mix of cars from 105 years old to just over the 30 year old limit, both cars and bikes present, food and ice cream on site and plenty of seating outside the pub for tired legs. The TCOC had a very good showing, aside from the 3 of us travelling in convoy both Al Quinn and Simon Kelly turned up for a visit and we won a second prize! Most Desirable Non Runner I think it was for Little Red. Colin was a little unlucky not to get silverware but I think having seen Kerry make off with a cup the Corkies attitude was "f**ked if we're going to watch Dublin doing the same"🤣🤣, that kind of stuff matters down there Colin, better luck next time!

So in conclusion then, good show, much better than that Fermoy one we tried last year around the same time and area, free show, donations and sponsorship to charity, they raise approx 2K, refreshments and music on the Saturday are free so that's not a bad achiement at all. I spoke to the organiser on Sunday before leaving and they'd love to see more visitors and hope to see TCOC people back next year. The organiser is a cute ole boy now that I think of it, those trophies are perpetual so someone at least has to commit to a revist🤣🤣. The lads kindly stayed until late to help me so the photo here was after the show, thanks lads much appreciated.

Hi everyone, I'm going to this show on the weekend of the 24th May if anyone would like to come along they'd be very welcome. Youghal is my hometown and whilst I have never actually been to this show it has a great reputation and if the weather is kind it could be a great weekend. I can help sort out accommodation there locally if anyone wants to go and I'll organise or recommend some nice local spots to eat if you prefer to go alone with your spouse or other partner, ahemsealed. Last year a few of us went to a show in Fermoy which was the week before this one and nearby obviously, the Fermoy thing was useless and everyone told us that we were a week too early and should be going to the one in Youghal, so this time I am!

The run on the Saturday goes through a very scenic route in West Waterdord to a small scenic village called Villierstown, a route that includes Lismore which is really something to drive, we did it last year and got some lovely photos at Lismore Castle. Villierstown is a one street village and they close the street for the car run and there's music outside the rustic pub there so apparently co pilots who wll drive are a big advantage! On the Sunday the show is in the grounds of Farrells pub which is a really good pub in a sunny south facing setting 500 mtrs from the beach.

Obviously one needs the weather for these things and thats always a variable but in chatting to the organiser this morning he told me that they've been running for 19 years and 18 have been fine and without rain! I've atttached a few photos from the trip to the area a few of us made last year, which was a really great trip I thought. (I didnt include cars or people in pubs and restaurants as I didnt ask permission, but there was lots of that!)
