Car maintenance course

Hi folks,

Apologies if anybody felt excluded from the event yesterday. However, the intitial post asked for interested parties to express their interest in the course by 20th may. This was refreshed a couple of weeks back and interested parties were asked to confirm their interest once more. The course was proposed by Alan egan and i took on the job of getting participants and arranging a venue for the event and a date. This was 100% my responsibility.

I must first of all stress that this was not a club technical morning but a carefully planned and organised theoretical and practical course. The course was aimed at folks with limited knowledge of their cars or with no experience at all. Obviously, as a kind member had offered their premises for the course it was always going to have to be on a date that suited them first and foremost, and then, depended on alan also being available on that date. This had to be coordinated carefully hence the absence of a date being posted on the forum. In any case, all interested parties had signed up by june and a whatsapp group was set up by myself to communicate updates about the course content, date of event, venue, etc. By end of last week, all members signed up to the course whatsapp group had been notified of time, date and venue.

Obviously Alan could only cater for approx 10 people in order to deliver the course content effectively and actually took a number of late applicants at short notice so as to be inclusive. Had more people expressed interest in attendance, the idea was that it would be split into two separate days to accommodate everyone.

Details of the course were also discussed at previous club meetings where a number of folks signed up on the day. In contrast, i feel the event was very well organised and communicated to members and a super enjoyable day was had.

Alan may be in a position to expand on this and run a series of these car maintenance courses where other members can participate if they wish. Obviously this all depends on Alan's desire to expand on the initiative and more importantly for folks replying to the request for them to express an interest.

Well done all on a first of its kind and great day yesterday.

Best regards,

Paddy.
