Hi all, I found out about this course from the Forum and WhatsApp so I don't really think that it was a secret. I hope nobody else felt excluded as I don't think that was the plan
I'm with Niall C on this point - Forum First for all Club events what's the point in having a Website if the 'frilly knickers' (Facetube and WhatsyerApp) are getting all the attention!!
if you interpret this as a response from someone who is pissed off - you're right.
In reply to your point Niall C.
Looks like we took our eye off the the ball regarding posting date of this event . There was no intention of keeping it a closed event. At the last meeting we were to confirm the date which we didn't. And we will take your point and ensure dates and events are posted in future.
The ease of access to watsat ( run of the day ) has had a huge effect on the website and Facebook page.
Not much we can do about that only to ask members to use website for all posts and keep the watsap for the run of the day only which was agreed at previous meetings.
Looks like we missed a great event and well done to all involved 👏.

Thanks DC and Niall for the replies I myself couldn't of gone either way as I was working but I just feel that the whole situation could of been handled a little better with proper communication through the channels that used to be used for such events ie the Forum, Cheers.
👍
Hiya Nialler, i think like a lot of new initiatives it's hard to know in advance how it's going to work out. Alan's initiative was to provide a training opportunity to open up the world of hands on maintenance to people who otherwise might not go there or have that background. That could have been like herding cats and possibly hazardous given the hands on work and Alan could have faced any scenario from trying to do it on his own with too many, to talking to himself with no one there so it maybe wasnt as very actively "advertised" as it might have been if there were less unknowns. As it happens a model kind of developed which worked really well in terms of splitting up the bigger number and mixing theory or classroom work and hands on, it's possibly something Alan and Paddy will expand on and develop now that there is a model that works and can handle bigger numbers. There wasn't any intent to exclude or be secretive for sure.
But you make a good point in relation to the forum, the website is to my eye dead on arrival, there seems little relevant traffic on it and practically no engagement. I think there's a big lost opportunity there for the club and something that could do with some effort.
Nice to see the details and date posted on the Forum for all Members to see, think it's getting more like the Secret Society than a Club.
Well Done Liz/Niall and Alan Egan for giving spare time to assist others.
