11/02/2026.
Just a quick heads up this morning, I just got a note from the organisers. They have 93 confirmed bookings in the hotel for the dinner dance and accommodation, so a minimum of 93 cars on the run as it stands. They had committed to 100 rooms reserved so it's getting near capacity, if you have an interest probably getting close to time to move. More importantly, fair play to KVVCCC, it looks like they'll have over 100 cars on the day, possibly well over, that has the makings of some spectacle. Looks like the TCOC contingent will be busy! Over 100 cars to judge for our Visitors Choice charity competition. I think currently there are 9 TCOC cars attending. The €500 charity contribution is locked in, the perpetual trophy is ordered, I believe the judges which of course is all the TCOC attendees are sharpening their pencils.
Previous to 11/02.
Hi all, there are currently 5 or 6 cars going to this outing, many are going on the Thursday and returning on the Monday but of course that's everyone's personal choice, we'll certainly organise some activities. visits, trips or meals around the free days if anyone wants to. Down to business, I previously posted the entry form to the club for the run so you all have access to that. The bank details for paying the €30 for the run are now available if you dont want to post a cheque, if you want to use the bank transfer method drop me a mail and I'll send them to you.
OK there was a post about this some months ago and we talked about it at a meeting. The Kingdom Vintage Vehicle and Classic Car Club have kindly extended an invitaton to us to join them on their 47th Ring of Kerry run this spring, its a weekend gig with a dinner dance on the Saturday night, there are a couple of options in terms of how long the visit is, there is 2 night deal or a one night deal with the hotel I'll cover that in more detail.
Friday the 24th of April there is an informal pre event run and gathering at the hotel, Saturday 25th is the main day, the Ring of Kerry run, around the Ring obviously with the local knowledge and then Saturday night the dinner dance. Dan Riordan and I went to this event last year albeit over a different route and a different hotel, Healys Pass and the Kenmare Bay Hotel it was last year, it was a great fun weekend, there seems to a regular 100 car turn out with this club, all kinds of vehicles and marques and the dinner dance was good fun and well received by the "partners" as an opportunity at a car do to dance and meet people. This year is a bit special, the Ring of Kerry run is the jewel in the crown for the classic comnunity in munster and further afield and the event is based in the 4* Castlerosse Park Resort, Dan and I did a recce there this year at the hotel and it is superb, in a great location with views of the lakes, its on the edge of the Killarney National Park actually. I've attached details below of the special rate the KVVCCC have secured and extended to ourselves, the hotel is open winter hours at the moment but contactable Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm and will take bookings at the rates listed below on requesting the KVVCCC rates for the April event, it is a very good rate which opens things up a bit.
Visitors Choice. To add a bit of interest and foster a relationship between the clubs and members I've organised some corporate sponsorship for a Visitors Choice prize, comprising a perpertual trophy and a charity donation. The visiting group will pick their collective favourite car of the run and award the Visitors Choice Trophy and a charity donation of €500 to a local charity of the owners choice, at the dinner dance. So we'll get to have some fun nosing around everyone's cars and then arguing the toss amongst ourselves(however many of us there are, one man one vote with a pitch and toss game if the group is tied
, that should be noisy!) before making someones evening and a bit of fun at the dance and hopefully will ensure we always have a welcome in Kerry and return at will singly or as a group.
Details for the KVVCCC, provided by Garrett Foley the club secretary.

Lovely trip, well done Niall - absolutely fab scenery and roads for our motors, had the V8 down there 2 years ago, magic.
I do love the capital lettered note on the bottom : please ensure cheques are signed
obviously some cute hoors down in the Kingdom!
Please find attached the entry form for the run from the club secretary of the KVVCCC. It asks for a cheque posting, if like me you haven't seen a cheque since 1997 then they will accept a wire transfer as well, just reference it with your name and ROK2026. I took a picture of the form completed and mailed it the secretary and that was fine too, they're very obliging. If anyone wants to do it that way contact me off line and I'll give you the bank details and e mail address.
I'm not sure if come the time people will want to travel alone or in convoy or just nearby but to keep everyone in the loop, I'm going on the Thursday and coming back on the following Monday and I know there are some doing that and some Thursday to Sunday, whatever suits yourselves but we'll all be there for each other anyway as always in the event of any car issues, as will the Kerry lads😊. Closer to the time we'll see if there is any interest in doing some other activities, Liz and I are hoping that the weather might allow a mountain hike for example.
